Lots of extra information
  • Barbecue - There is a small barbecue set, for guests to use, and briquettes or charcoal are available at cost from the main house
  • Bathrooms - Wisteria has a large shower with wash hand basin and WC. Gardener's Bothy has a bath with a stand up shower attachment and second shower rose at the opposite end of the bath. It has a WC and wash hand basin. The Smithy has a shower, with WC and wash hand basin
  • Bedding - All beds are made up with duvets, 2 pillows and bed spread. Extra bedding is available on request
  • Breakages - Breakages are chargeable, but not for minor breakages such as the odd glass or cup. Dorney Self Catering Apartments reserves the right to make further charges from the guest’s card if there are major damages. The guest will always be informed before such a charge is made. No charges have been made since we started in 1997.
  • Central Heating – Gardener’s Bothy and Wisteria Both have independently controlled central heating levels, but the timing is central If you prefer to have 24 hour heating or different timing, the controls are underneath the stairs (near the washing machines). Please always keep the water on continuous/constant, and be aware that by changing the central heating controls you are changing the other apartment as well. The Smithy’s hot water is heated universally, but has independent electric heating
  • Clothes Drying - There is a covered washing line area for guests opposite The Smithy
  • Cots - There are two travel cots available. Please let us know if you require a cot when you book your apartment, and whether you will need bed linen for it, so that we can make sure it is ready in the apartment when you arrive
  • Dishwasher - There is a dishwasher in Wisteria only
  • Dogs - Dogs are all welcome, however, there is an extra charge.
  • DVD - There is a DVD in Gardener’s Bothy and Wisteria
  • Electricity Failure - If the power is tripped off, you will need to reset the trip switch - To do this in Gardener’s Bothy and The Smithy – the switches are under the stairs in the lobby Wisteria – the switches are in the bedroom cupboard. All switches should be UP
  • Faults - Any faults and suggestions can be put in the book, but we also always welcome positive suggestions for improving facilities
  • Fire Safety - There are fire extinguishers and fire blankets in all apartments and there are also hooters to blow in the event of a fire
  • Folded Bed Linen Packs - These are provided so that guests can make up their own beds when they pull out the folding chair-beds
  • Folding Beds - The folding beds are 6’ 2” long and are 2’ 9” wide, with a 4” thick mattress on sprung slats
  • Fridge - There are fridges in each apartment, but there is only a small icebox in each fridge. There are no freezers
  • Games - There are board games, playing cards and jigsaws in each apartment
  • Garden - There is a garden for games, outdoor meals or relaxation. This is shared by all the apartments. Each flat has a map/plan of the whole property showing what is available for guests and what is private. There is a trampoline in the owners’ private garden which should not be used by guests under any circumstances. Trampolines can be dangerous if unsupervised, even for adults. We accept no responsibility for accidents
  • Garden Furniture - There are 16 garden chairs and 5 tables
  • Hairdryer - A hairdryer is provided in each apartment
  • Hanging Space + Clothes storage - There is hanging space and drawers in all apartments
  • Heating - The Smithy is heated by an electric heater on a timer. This can easily be reprogrammed. There is also a towel heater. Gardener’s Bothy and Wisteria are centrally heated and controlled by both radiator thermostats and room thermostats
  • Heating in Winter -There is back up/extra heating in the form of electric heaters on timers. Please try to avoid overheating the apartment by accidentally having both central heating and electric heaters on at the same time. Please also be aware of the risks of electric convection heaters, and do not put any clothes or articles on these heaters
  • High Chair - There is one high chair available. Please let us know when you make your booking if you need to use the high chair
  • Hot Water - is constant so should not run out
  • Hot Weather - In hot weather we provide fans. The apartments are not air conditioned
  • Internet via Wi-Fi is available for laptops free of charge
  • Iron/Ironing Board – There is an iron and ironing board behind the door in the laundry area
  • Keys - If you require more than one key for each apartment, these are available on request. Please leave the key in the door when you leave
  • Noise - There is very little problem with noise as our nearest neighbours are 400 yards away, and you are in open countryside. However, please be aware of guests staying in the other apartments
  • Outside Lighting - There is an outside light by each apartment door, and the laundry room has a timed night light
  • Parking and Unloading - You may unload outside your apartment, but please then move your car to the parking area. Please be aware that you may be blocking the way for other guests if you unload down the side of the building
  • Pubs - You can walk to Eton Wick (where there are several pubs) along the tarmac footpath (1.5 miles-turn left out of the gates) or you can walk to the Palmer Arms in Dorney (recently under new management) along the road across the common (turn right -1.5 miles). The Pineapple Pub (best sandwiches in the area) is another ¾ mile after the Palmer Arms
  • Refunds - We cannot give refunds for some or all of guests not turning up, or unable to come. We strongly advise you take out holiday insurance for such events. Please understand that we are losing the opportunity of letting the apartments to other guests if you have booked them up
  • Rubbish and Recycling - A small bin is available in the kitchen and we try and encourage recycling of glass, metal and cardboard into the plastic boxes provided. When emptying your bin outside, please put the bag only in the black bins and not in the big green wheelie bins (which are reserved for our cleaners)
  • Smoke Alarms - There are smoke alarms in all apartments, although the integral smoke alarms in Wisteria have been disabled due to over- sensitivity. Smoke alarms may be cancelled by pressing the silence button.
  • Smoking - There is a strictly no smoking policy in all apartments, and this is a legal requirement. You may smoke outside, but please put cigarette butts in an ashtray or extinguish them in a small glass of water.
  • Stay Shortened - This is similar to a guest not turning up and we cannot make any refunds. Sorry
  • Toilet Paper - Toilet paper is provided. Please let us know if you need more
  • Torches There is a rechargeable torch in each apartment. Please make sure you put this back in its recharge holster for others to use.
  • Tourist Activities - There is information in the apartments for local activities and events
  • Towels - Bath towels, hand towels and tea towels are provided. If you require more towels, please let us know
  • Trampoline – There is a trampoline in the private garden and use the trampoline without our permission is strictly forbidden. Please ensure that children are told that the trampoline is not available for their use. We cannot be held responsible for accidents involving the trampoline
  • Tumble Dryer - The tumble dryer is available free of charge
  • TV - There is a flatscreen TV in each apartment, but digital has not yet been connected, although there are digiboxes.
  • Vacuum Cleaner - A vacuum cleaner is provided in each apartment
  • Walking - The open field opposite the apartments is not owned by us. If you leave by the main gates, there is a public footpath and avenue of trees to your left, leading to Boveney Lock (River Thames) and then on to Eton/Windsor (about 45 minutes), walking along The Thames Path. Walk over the pedestrian bridge to get to Windsor from Eton.
  • Washing Machine - There are two automatic washing machines available for guests in the area underneath Gardeners Bothy. Please bring your own powder, but powder is available on request at the main house
  • Wi-Fi - is available for laptops free of charge (no password required)
